The goal of the Ol Onana Project is to facilitate the development, design and eventual construction of an important resource center for the displaced and dispersing Maasai of Western Kenya. This unique endeavor was initiated by Mr. Gillies Turle to "serve as an anchor hold" for the endangered culture - a meeting place with a tiny museum. Recently the concept for the project broadened to include the more urgent cultural survival needs of the community. This shift opened up a number of very special cross cultural opportunities that will aid the Maasai in both designing the center and developing the center's educational program.

The North American part in the cultural exchange is providing appropriate technology and expertise as requested by the Maasai. Our critical role will be to facilitate the Kenyan community in carefully fitting together the many parts of the small complex, while ensuring the transferal of the Maasai aesthetic sensibility to the building's design.
